Lisa Weston, CNM

Lisa Weston, CNM

Originally from Oklahoma, Lisa Weston landed in Alaska in 1984 during her career in the USAF. Falling head-over-heels in love with the scenery, wildlife, and people, Lisa has called Alaska “home” for over thirty years.

While working as a technician in college, Lisa became an accidental hand to hold during a woman’s surprise, rapid delivery.

“That moment of power, raw energy, and a little bit of magic left me awestruck”, and launched a passion for women’s health, especially in the transitions of pregnancy, birth, and family building.

Lisa completed her BS in Nursing from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and her MS in Midwifery with Philadelphia University (now Jefferson University). A Certified Nurse Midwife since 2003, Lisa has worked with Southcentral Foundation/The Alaska Native Medical Center, in the private sector obstetric community, and most recently as a hospitalist midwife.

She was recognized by the OB Hospitalist Group for her work promoting MAT access to patients through group CNM training and prescribing waivers. Lisa also received a “Community Educator”  award from the Alaska Family Medicine Residency Program for working with Family Practice resident physicians in Labor and Delivery.

Lisa has held additional certifications in Addictions Nursing and Forensic Nursing. In 2020, she completed requirements to become board certified, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She incorporates principles of diet, activity, and stress management as part of every encounter.

“A decade or so ago, I had the privilege of providing volunteer care in several villages in rural Peru. I learned then how much can be accomplished for really positive health changes, through making connections and practical education”.

In her free time, Lisa loves to travel, noting, Italy, Iceland, and Scotland her favorites so far. She enjoys biking year round, hiking, glamping, and hanging out with her partner Tom, and their four dogs. She endorses a whole food plant based diet, and loved to try out new recipes on unsuspecting friends and colleagues.

What Patients Say

“Thank you to Miss Lisa and staff, you were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and make me feel comfortable.”

“Amazing new provider! She is one of the best I have ever seen – will absolutely be back to see Lisa!”

“Fantastic care here by the nurse and the practitioner, Lisa Weston. Highly recommended.”

“I really enjoyed both MA’s that helped me. The one training and the one who was learning. Both were excellent communicators. Lisa the midwife. She deserves an award! The amount of information she provided me was incredible. I have never felt so safe and secure with a Nurse Practitioner. She was diligent on figuring out my concerns and providing the best follow up plan for me. I truly appreciate her willingness to go above and beyond for me. Almost makes me want to cry knowing I was heard by a medical professional. Lisa is heaven sent and her energy is beautiful.”

“Lisa really listened to me and explained a lot with respect to my questions. Thanks for the great service.”

“If there were an option higher than “excellent,” I would have selected it. The visit today could not have been better. Everyone I had contact with, from the phone call this morning to the time I walked out the door after my appointment, is a credit to your office. This practice is a true example of what every medical practice should be. I feel privileged to be a patient at Alaska Women’s Health. With my thanks, Gail Kottra”

“On the day of my appointment, I was having a bit of a rough morning. I was feeling a bit emotionally fragile and also worried about the pain associated with my procedure at AWH, only because my last IUD placement at another facility, was so painful. But much to my relief, the medical assistant Jeany was so kind, warm, and understanding, just what my heart needed at that time. My provider Elizabeth Weston was also what my heart needed that morning. Elizabeth was kind, sympathetic, warm, understanding, patient, and also has an incredible technique for IUD insertion–barely felt it.”

“It’s my second pregnancy, I have always been cared and the team at AWH are always the BEST experience and it
felt so much better to be with great people with my pregnancy. They’re all hands on with anything you needed. I’m so grateful to have you guys AWH.”

“Lisa was great. Liked her very much. She was kind, understanding, with a wonderful bedside manner. Will rave about her to my girlfriend’s.”

“Dr. Lisa was very friendly and compassionate, knew my medical history, and made me feel very comfortable for
my first visit with her. I feel confident in her medical care going forward.”
