Lisa Weston, CNM

Lisa Weston, CNM

Originally from Oklahoma, Lisa Weston landed in Alaska in 1984 during her career in the USAF. Falling head-over-heels in love with the scenery, wildlife, and people, Lisa has called Alaska “home” for over thirty years.

While working as a technician in college, Lisa became an accidental hand to hold during a woman’s surprise, rapid delivery.

“That moment of power, raw energy, and a little bit of magic left me awestruck”, and launched a passion for women’s health, especially in the transitions of pregnancy, birth, and family building.

Lisa completed her BS in Nursing from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and her MS in Midwifery with Philadelphia University (now Jefferson University). A Certified Nurse Midwife since 2003, Lisa has worked with Southcentral Foundation/The Alaska Native Medical Center, in the private sector obstetric community, and most recently as a hospitalist midwife.

She was recognized by the OB Hospitalist Group for her work promoting MAT access to patients through group CNM training and prescribing waivers. Lisa also received a “Community Educator”  award from the Alaska Family Medicine Residency Program for working with Family Practice resident physicians in Labor and Delivery.

Lisa has held additional certifications in Addictions Nursing and Forensic Nursing. In 2020, she completed requirements to become board certified, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She incorporates principles of diet, activity, and stress management as part of every encounter.

“A decade or so ago, I had the privilege of providing volunteer care in several villages in rural Peru. I learned then how much can be accomplished for really positive health changes, through making connections and practical education”.

In her free time, Lisa loves to travel, noting, Italy, Iceland, and Scotland her favorites so far. She enjoys biking year round, hiking, glamping, and hanging out with her partner Tom, and their four dogs. She endorses a whole food plant based diet, and loved to try out new recipes on unsuspecting friends and colleagues.
