Carol Mitchell-Springer, MD
Carol Mitchell-Springer was born in Tokyo, Japan. Her father was in the military, and Carol’s family travelled throughout her youth. She attended junior high and high school in Anchorage, and was a member of the first graduating class at Service High School. Carol arned her Bachelor of Science with the highest honors from Oregon State University. She then earned her medical degree, graduating magna cum laude and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. Carol was honored to receive the Gold Headed Cane Award for compassionate care and was voted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After residency, Carol remained in Portland, where she was a founding member of the first woman-owned private OBGYN clinic in Portland. Recognizing her passion for reconstructive vaginal surgery and helping women with urinary issues and prolapse, Carol completed additional training in urogynecology at Oregon Health Sciences.
In 1993, Carol moved back to Anchorage and joined Alaska Women’s Health. Carol is board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and is one of our 2 urogynecologists. Carol has been a leader in our clinic and our community. She provides compassionate, meaningful care to her patients and unparalleled mentorship to her younger partners. Carol’s philosophy of care is simple: she believes in caring for her patients with the same dedication she would want for her own family member.
Family is very important to Carol, and in her free time, she enjoys travel and spending time with her husband, her son and her extended family. She and her husband spend time together in their home in Arizona as well as in Anchorage. She loves hiking and engaging in outdoor activities.
