Aesthetic Gynecology Procedures

Dr. Carol Mitchell-Springer and Dr. Andrea Wang are the only board-certified surgeons in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in Alaska. With unmatched experience in pelvic reconstruction, they provide a distinct advantage for aesthetic gynecologic procedures. A plastic surgeon or general gynecologist may have little training in the art of pelvic reconstructive surgery. Drs. Mitchell-Springer and Wang are pleased to provide expertise in the full spectrum of treatments for pelvic disorders, both aesthetic and functional.
Childbirth, trauma and time may alter the appearance of the vulvar and vaginal area. Procedures are available to restore the youthful appearance and function of these intimate areas, similar to a “face lift.” In the hands of a specialist surgeon, these delicate procedures may greatly enhance appearance, sensation, and quality of life. Femininity and confidence can be restored.
We welcome your inquires.

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure, performed to slim the inner or outer labia, the fleshy lips on both sides of your vagina. Women may seek this procedure for aesthetic reasons or because the excess skin causes discomfort during sex or exercise. The labia may limit the clothes that can be worn, such as bathing suits, skinny jeans or leggings.

With a labiaplasty, an aesthetic gynecological surgeon may contour and reshape your labia to your desired proportions. This procedure can be combined safely with other intimate aesthetic operations.

Vaginoplasty

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, vaginal rejuvenation or vaginoplasty is gaining popularity in the United States faster than almost any other plastic surgery procedure. A vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure to reduce the size of your vaginal canal.  The procedure tightens the inner vaginal walls.  This can restore a tighter or fuller feeling inside the vagina and by extension, sexual satisfaction.  If desired, this procedure can be done at the same time as a labiaplasty.

The vaginal tissue, like other soft tissues, may weaken or stretch with time. As a result, sex can become less fulfilling because the sensation isnt as intense. A vaginoplasty can restore the snug sensation, making sexual intercourse a rich experience again.

Most women who opt for a vaginoplasty are in their 30s to their 50s. A vaginoplasty doesnt prevent someone from having more children, but pregnancy and vaginal delivery can undo the work of the gynecological plastic surgeon. While its possible to have a second vaginoplasty, the procedure carries more risks and uncertainty.  We recommend this procedure only for women who have completed their families.

Perineoplasty

A perineoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure, performed to contour the vaginal opening and the area between the vaginal and anal openings.  It does not tighten the deeper vagina canal, although it can be combined with other procedures.

The perineum is the area between your vagina and rectum that is visible. Tears during childbirth are very common in the perineum. Women may choose a perineoplasty to remove excess skin and skin tags for a smoother appearance

Most women who opt for a perineoplasty are in their 30s to 50s.  This procedure does not prevent someone from having more children, but pregnancy and vaginal delivery will re-open the tissues.  We recommend a perineoplasty only for women who have completed their families.

Awesome bedside manner! I feel all my needs and concerns are well cared for by Dr. Moses. She takes her time with me. I appreciate that. My appointments have been first thing in the morning, so I haven’t ever had to wait to be seen. Nurses there are great too! Really positive experience. (My husband is a physician, I’m pretty picky and I keep my expectations high.)
