Our Providers - Jane Wiggins, MD

Dr. Jane Wiggins was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico in 1970 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah in 197.

After working as a Nurse-Midwife in Utah and New Mexico, she entered medical school at the University of New Mexico. She earned her Doctor of Medicine in 1983 and moved to New Orleans to complete an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Tulane University and Charity Hospitals. Upon completion in 1987, she returned to Albuquerque and entered private practice.

During her medical school rotations she had the opportunity to work with Dr. Jan Whitefield and in 1990 she moved to Alaska to work with him at Alaska Women’s Health.

Family is very important to Dr. Wiggins and the adoption of newborn twins took her back to practice in Albuquerque for two years but in 1993 she returned to Alaska to begin a private solo practice. In 2000, she again rejoined Alaska Women’s Health.

In addition to maintaining a busy obstetrical practice and raising two teenagers she stays active by hiking, biking, skiing, and kayaking.
